Description:
A Confederate soldier in uniform stands with both hands grasping the barrel of a rifle with butt of the rifle on ground in front of his proper right foot. He wears a field hat and a canteen, a holster and possibly a knife attached to his belt. His proper right leg leans back against a tree trunk.

Remarks:
Originally placed front and center of County Courthouse, then moved to the center of the intersection of Highways 47 and 40, in the middle of the road. It was moved to present position when a textile mill opened in Drakes Branch and trucks couldn't make the turn.
