    Description: 
    Standing figure of a soldier, facing west, wearing a uniform consisting of a long coat, a cape buttoned at the top and a cap. The moustached figure holds a rifle with both hands by the barrel. The butt of the gun rests in front of his proper left foot. His proper right foot is forward and bent at the knee. He stands in front of a tree stump.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was originally sited at the foot of Lisle Hill on North River Street. It was erected sometime after 1900 and replaced another statue. Sometime between 1910 and 1916, the statue was moved to its current site.
