    A vertical shaft atop a rectangular base inscribed with names. The tapered shaft is topped with a perched eagle with wings spread.

    Remarks: 
    IAS files contain a copy of a 1959 research paper written by Percy Jeffords, town clerk from 1939-1958, which gives details related to the commissioning and placement of the statue. A copy of the paper is on file with the Williamstown Historical Society. The monument cost $1,775, with an additional $225 raised to cover the costs of the surrounding fence. See IAS files for a complete transcription of the names listed on the monument.
