    Description: 
    Standing figure of a soldier wearing a rimmed hat and a canteen over his proper left shoulder. He holds the barrel of a gun with both hands in front of him with the butt resting at his feet. His proper left foot is slightly forward. He stands atop a tall multi-tiered granite base.

    Remarks: 
    IAS files contain a unpublished booklet "Danby Spring, 1976" which gives a brief history of Danby's participation in the Civil War and includes a photograph of the dedication ceremony. The original location of the piece was in the center of town, in the middle of Main Street (formerly Route #7). The monument was a gift of Eugene McIntyre.
