    Description: 
    Bronze relief plaques set within a sandstone stele and flanked by two boulders. The main plaque depicts the Scofield Mine Disaster of May 1, 1900, and show miners, a cross, and a house. Additional plaques give the history of the disaster and a list of donors.

    The memorial commemorates the Scofield Mine Disaster of May 1, 1900, which occurred approximately one mile southwest of this site. The explosion killed two hundred miners and wounded others.
