The monument was erected by the General Granbury Chapter No. 683, United Daughters of the Confederacy. It cost was $1,350, with $1,000 appropriated on July 1, 1913 by the State Legislature. It was imported from Italy, bought from Youngblood Monument Company of Waxahachie, Texas, and erected by Jim Youngblood.
