The sculpture was designed by Peggy Stacy and fabricated by Pete Hunter. It was erected by the Freer Chamber of Commerce and advertises the Rattlesnake Round-up held annually in Freer. IAS files contain related correspondence from the Freer Chamber of Commerce; and brochure entitled, "For Industry, Business, and Family...It's Freer, Texas: The Buckle of the Oil Belt."
