A riderless horse symbolizing the death of a soldier and commemorating the days of the U. S. Cavalry. The horse has all of the accouterments he would have worn if ridden by a cavalry soldier. The horse is mounted on a limestone base located on a high knoll and lighted at night. An iron relief on the front of the base depicts two crossed sabers. Around the base is a concrete walk surrounded by concrete posts linked by chains to form a fence. The two front posts are each topped by a concrete eagle.
