(Base, front:) CSA (surrounded by thirteen stars)/THIS MARBLE SOLDIER'S VOICELESS STONE IN DEATHLESS SONG SHALL TELL WHEN MANY A VANISHED YEAR HATH FLOWN, THE STORY HOW YE FELL. IN MEMORY OF OUR CONFEDERATE DEAD. (Base, left side:) THEY ROSE TO DEFEND THEIR HOMES AND FIRESIDES; THEY ENDURED EVERY HARDSHIP WITHOUT COMPLAINT, THEIR SOULS REST WITH GOD; THEIR FAME IS IMMORTAL. (Base, rear:) 1861-1865 BUT THE BUGLE CALL, THE BATTLE BALL AGAIN SHALL ROUSE THEM NEVER; THEY FOUGHT AND FELL, THEY SERVED US WELL, THEIR FURLOUGH LASTS FOREVER. Description:
Figure of a confederate soldier standing at parade rest atop an ornate marble shaft, on a stepped granite base. He wears the uniform of a Confederate private, including a brimmed hat. He holds the barrel of a rifle in both hands. The butt of the rifle rests in front of his proper right foot. His proper left foot is slightly forward and his proper left leg is bent.
