He stands with his weight equally on both feet. His proper left hand rests on a canteen and knife handle which both hang from his belt on his proper left side. He has the strap of a bag over his proper left shoulder and across his body, with the bag resting on his proper right hip. He has a sash or blanket draped over his proper right shoulder, across his body, and meeting under his proper left arm. A tree stump which reaches to just below hip level is located immediately behind and to the side of his proper left foot. The statue rests on a simple rectangular base with a stepped bottom.
