    (On front of base: "THERE IS NO NOBLER/SPOT OF GROUND,/THAN WHERE EXALTED/VALOR LIES"/CONFEDERATE/SOLDIERS (Back of base:) ERECTED/BY THE/DAUGHTERS (Proper right side of base:) 1861/1865
    Description: 
    A standing Confederate soldier wearing a uniform consisting of a brimmed hat, hip-length jacket, trousers, and boots. On his belt is a shot pouch, case, canteen, bag, and bayonet. His proper left leg is bent and his proper left foot is forward and rests on a knapsack and bedroll. He holds the barrel of a rifle with both hands. The butt of the rifle rests on the plinth in front of his proper right foot. The rifle has an applied metal strap and appears to be a 1830s model Harpers Ferry Musket. The soldier stands atop an elaborate tiered granite base with a Confederate flag in relief on the front and a wreath in relief on the proper right side.
