    Description: 
    The installation consists of a larger than life size bronze sculpture of St. John seated at one end of a large granite bench, his left arm resting on the back of the bench, and his right hand resting atop an open book in his lap. Written on the pages of the open book are several verses from St. John 14:1-3. Perched beside his left foot is an eagle.

    Dakota Bench was funded with donations to the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Association. The sculpture was awarded the "Best of Show" award in the Sacred Art competition of the 2007 Visual Arts Awards. IAS files contain copies of newspaper articles from: Ortonville Independent, April 6, 2006 and Oct. 2, 2007; the Granty County Review, July 12, 2006, and the Watertown Public Opinion, Aug. 3, 2006.
