Description:
Spherical bronze sundial consisting of three intersecting circles supporting an arrow shaped gnomon. The gnomon's shadow falls on one circle with raised Roman numerals on it. Sculpture rests on a white octagonal column carved with decorative patterns alternating down the sides. Open mouthed gargoyles surround the column's highly carved capital.

IAS files contain copies of related newspaper articles from the Chesterfield Advertiser and the Cheraw Chronicle (Cheraw, South Carolina). Made of sand cast bronze, the piece was cast in the original by Morseletto of Lazaso, Italy; purchased from Cobles Carolina Studio, Rockingham, NC; assembled by Donna D. Freeman and Sara P. Lear; and installed by I. B. Merriman.
