    Remarks: 
    The memorial commemorates the 12 men who died in the Knox Mine Disaster on January 22, 1959. Water from the Susquehanna River flooded the Knox Coal Company's River Slop area mine. The memorial is one of two memorials erected in the City to commemorate the disaster (the other located at 1200 Main Street). IAS files contain copies of related articles from The Times Leader, Profile, April 27, 1991, pg. 97-98.
