    Full-length portrait of Mary Jemison. She has long hair braided into side braids. She wears a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. The zinc sculpture stands on a pedestal base of mortared stone.

    Remarks: 
    Mary Jemison was a pioneer settler in the Buchanan Valley. She was abducted in 1755 during the French and Indian War and lived her life with the Seneca Indians. The sculpture was installed by Father William W. Whalen, pastor of St. Ignatius parish from 1917 to 1938. IAS files contain copy of related excerpt from "Historic Adams County Pennsylvania: a Pictorial Record", Gettysburg: Times and News Publishing, 1950, pg. 13.
