(Middle front of monument on shield, raised:) VICTORY (Lower front of monument, incised:) IN MEMORY OF THE/SOLDIERS FROM/JUNIATA COUNTY PA./WHO DIED IN THE WAR/OF THE GREAT/REBELLION IN/DEFENCE OF THE UNION/OF THEIR FATHERS./(on lower tier) ERECTED IN 1870. unsigned

A tall, square shaft topped by a lintel with an eagle on a flag-draped spear. On the front of the shaft is an inscribed emblem shield with star and stripes. The lower section of the monument is multitiered with inscriptions. The monument is mounted on top of a short, square base.
