Description:
Full-length portrait of Colonel Jacob Weiss. He wears Revolutionary War military uniform including a tail coat with epaulettes, vest, breeches, knee-high boots and bi-corner hat. He stands in front of a tree stump. His proper right hand grasps the front lapel of his overcoat. The granite sculpture stands atop a tall granite pedestal.

Remarks:
Weiss was deputy quartermaster-general during the Revolutionary War. After the war he settled to farm in the Lehigh Valley and was part owner of the Lehigh Coal-Mine Company. The sculpture was installed by Brinkman Brothers for a contract sum of $3,050. Funds for the sculpture were raised through public subscription. IAS files contain copy of related articles from Lehighton Evening Leader, Aug. 14, 1916, pg. 1 and Sept. 26, 1916, pg. 1-2, 4. and Sunday Call-Chronicle (Allentown, PA), Jan. 1, 1953, pg. 27.
