Description:
Concrete bas-relief of an eagle with spread wings mounted on wall with war memorial plaques. A laurel wreath encircles the eagle's body and its head is turned toward the proper right. The sculpture is mounted in the top center front of a free-standing wall constructed of mortared stone. Mounted on the wall directly below the eagle are two medallions: the seal of the AMVETS on the left and the seal of the American Legion on the right. Bronze bas-relief plaques depicting scenes from four wars are mounted on the front of the wall, two on each side of center. The plaque on the far left depicts scenes from World War I including the head of a soldier wearing a helmet, two biplanes, an American flag, a soldier assisting another soldier lying on the ground and a ship at sea. The plaque to the right depicts scenes from World War II including the busts of a soldier and a sailor in uniform, three ascending airplanes, an American flag, a battleship and a tank. The plaque on the center right depicts scenes from the Korean War including a helicopter, an airplane, the bust of a soldier in uniform, the bust of a civilian figure, an American flag, a battleship and a tank. The plaque on the far right depicts scenes from the Vietnam War including an airplane, two helicopters, a tank, a battleship, the bust of a soldier in jungle fatigues, the bust of a female Army nurse, and an American flag.
