The sculpture was executed under the Civilian Conservation Corps, New Deal Resources in Oklahoma State Parks project created under the direction of Gordon Janecek, a landscape architect with the National Park Service. IAS files contain a Historic Preservation Resource Identification Form from the State Historical Preservation Office and an excerpt from "Roman Nose: A History of the Park," by M. C. Weber.
