    Description:
A mustached, uniformed Civil War soldier in infantry attire, stands with his proper right leg forward, his proper left hand held to his forehead shading his eyes, and his proper right arm holding the barrel of his musket at thigh-level, the butt of which rests opposite his proper right foot. He is wearing a cap, a knee-length coat, a cape, and a belt with pouches. He stands upon the cap of a multitiered, tapered, stepped base with a block projecting from the lower, front portion above the steps. Upon the block stands a young, uniformed drummer for the Union Army, a harness over his shoulders and across his chest, holding a drum at his waist. He wears a cap and holds drumsticks in each hand that are resting on the drum in a playing position. Two iron cannons stand approximately four feet away on either side of the monument. At one time there were also two triangular piles of cannon balls adjacent to the cannons, however, only five balls to the proper right of the monument still exist.
