    Description: 
    Uniformed Confederate soldier standing at parade rest. His blanket is strapped over his shoulder, his knapsack and canteen by his side. He grips barrel-end of his musket in both hands, and butt of his musket rests on ground in front of his proper right foot.

    Remarks: 
    Fort Macon chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy arranged for the erection of the monument. The cost was $3,000. Partial funding provided by the Morehead City chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a $500 contribution from Mr. F. S. Dickinson, a Rutherford, New Jersey businessman. IAS files contain related article from the Beaufort News, May 13, 1926, which discusses the dedication ceremony.
