Description:
Full-length figure of a Civil War soldier standing at parade rest. He wears a uniform, overcoat and cap. The cape of his coat is thrown over his proper right shoulder. He holds a rifle by the barrel with both hands; the butt of the gun rests on the ground near his feet. The zinc or zinc-coated sculpture stands atop a zinc pedestal. The faces of the pedestal are decorated with relief bunting. The proper right side of the pedestal has a portrait bust of Lincoln in relief. Below the main shaft of the pedestal are arches and columns sculpted in relief. The pedestal ends in two steps.

Remarks:
The total cost for the sculpture was $1,600. In 1969 the sculpture was damaged by an automobile. The sculpture was repaired by a craftsman in Jamestown, New York. For related article see Jamestown Post Journal, Nov. 27, 1994.
