    Remarks:
The site of the sculpture is the homestead and grave of naturalist John Burroughs. The work itself is a bas-relief copy of "The Summit of the Years," by Cartaino di Sciarrino Pietro (IAS record 77000183). The verse on the plaque is from a poem by John Burroughs entitled "Waiting" or "Wandering." IAS files contain articles from the Stamford Mirror-Recorder, April 5, 1922 and the Delaware County Times, April 7, 1922. Additional information can be found in the local history collection of the Roxbury Public Library, including a dedication brochure and the booklet "John Burroughs in Roxbury," (Roxbury, NY: Roxbury Burroughs Club, ca. 1950s).
