Description:
A rectangular structure consisting of five square columns supporting a horizontal beam. The columns are set on a base in a slight arc. The top front of the center column contains an eternal torch emblem in gold leaf. Each of the other four columns bears an insignia on the front representing a branch of the military. From left to right, the insignias are: an American eagle with "E Pluribus Unum" banner; a propeller; the inscription "Semper Fidelis" and a globe; an eagle with anchors. The front of each column is detailed with three engraved vertical lines in gold leaf. The sculpture is enclosed by a low fence.

Remarks:
The sculpture cost $10,000 and was installed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Inwood in tribute to all veterans of war. The Fasolino Monument Company fabricated the sculpture. It was dedicated during Memorial Day festivities on May 28, 1973. IAS files contain a related article from the South Shore Record, June 7, 1973.
