Description:
Full-length figure of a uniformed Union soldier stands atop a tall shaft, pedestal and tiered base. The figure has a beard and wears a cap and long coat. The coat is open and loosely draped around his shoulders. He holds his rifle in front of him with both hands around the barrel and the butt near his proper left foot. There is a decorative relief on the front of the shaft comprised of flags, sabers and other military accouterments.

Remarks:
The monument was erected by the Town and citizens of East Bloomfield for $6,000. The Town contributed $1,000 and the remainder was raised through public subscription by the ladies of the Congregational Church.
