    Description: 
    Rectangular stone monument which tapers in towards the top. On the front face of the monument is a bas-relief carving of a highly stylized eagle falling towards the ground.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial commemorates Capt. Emilio Carranza, a Mexican aviator and emissary, whose plane crashed on his return flight from a goodwill trip to the United States. The memorial marks the crash site. Funding for the memorial was provided by school children from Mexico City. The stones for the memorial were quarried near Mexico City. The memorial was erected by American Legion Post No. 11 of Mount Holly (NJ). IAS files contain copy of related New Jersey Save Outdoor Sculpture exhibition brochure entitled "Stories of Discovery: Volunteer's Accounts of New Jersey's Outdoor Sculpture".
