Seen in profile view, the mother is seated reading a book. She wears a simple dress, shoes, and her hair is in a bun. On one side of the mother, a young girl stands. She wears a dress and is clasping a pig tail with her proper left hand. In front of the figures is a young boy, dressed in slacks and a shirt. He is seated on a ledge, holding a book to his chest with his proper left hand. Two books lie beside him on the ledge.
