    Description: 
    A figure of a soldier, dressed in a military uniform with an open-collared shirt, stands holding a bayonet in his lowered proper right hand. In his proper left hand, he grasps an upright flagpole that is topped with a small eagle. A partially unfurled American flag wraps its way around the flagpole. In back of the figure, an anvil is placed atop a tree stump and topped with an open book and a small oil lamp. A pick-axe lies by the side of the stump. The statue is placed atop an inscribed base that is decorated at its upper front with a relief of garland leaves and at its front side edges with fasces.
