Description:
A flag bearer stands atop a columned structure. The soldier wears a short jacket, canteen, cap and long pants. The flag is held tightly to his proper left side, and he is about to draw his sword in defense. The flag bearer stands on roof of a 4 columned canopy, with two guns with shot pouches stacked below.

Remarks:
The idea for the monument originated with Fred Smyth Relief Corp, no. 7, who raised $500 towards the cost of the memorial; the twon appropriated up to $6,000 for the memorial. Total cost of the memorial was $5,500. The memorial and was designed by John Houlihan; the standard bearer carved by John Harrigan, and the guns cast by Friedly-Voshardt Co. The inscription son the sides and rear of the memorial (listings names of Civil War and Spanish American War soldiers) were added in 1989. The 1994 SOS! survey reports that monument had recently been cleaned.
