    Description: 
    A dying lion reclining on a square base set in a four-columned canopied structure. The base and columns stand on a low three-tiered structure. The lion's head rests on a shield of the Confederate States of America. A seal flanked by four flags appears on the square base.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Site of this monument was once a Confederate Veterans home. The shield of the Confederate States of America replaces the shield of France in the original by Thorwaldsen.
