Description:
Full-length figure of Confederate soldier in uniform and hat on top of a shaft. He holds a rifle by the barrel with his proper right hand, the butt resting by his proper right foot. His proper left hand is held above his eyes as if to shield them. He wears a knapsack on his back and there is a pouch on his proper left side at waist-level, secured by a belt. The shaft is inscribed on all sides. A cannon sits in front of the two-stepped base mounted on concrete.

Remarks:
In January 1951 an ice storm damaged the original statue, which was made of Italian marble. This replacement was made, duplicating the marble and Confederate soldier with the aid of old photographs.
