    Full-length figure of a young male is reclining against a rock reading a book. The figure wears a shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a harmonica in the breast pocket. He also wears loose, casual trousers and is barefoot.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by the Henry M. Seymour Library Board of Trustees in memory of Emily Jackson Seymour. The sculpture was funded with a $75,000 memorial fund established by the friends and family of Mrs. Seymour, a $2,500 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. IAS files include an grant application to the Mississippi Arts Commission, correspondence between the artist and the Library and a related article from the Enterprise-Tocsin (Indianola, MS), May 17, 1990.
