Remarks:
The SOS! report indicates the monument fabricator may be McNeil Marble Works (Marietta, Georgia), since this firm did a similar Confederate memorial in Laurel (GA) at the same time. IAS files contain newspaper articles from the Jones County News (Ellisville, MS) January 11, 1912; May 16, 1912; and May 30, 1912. IAS files also contain March 7, 1911 minutes of the Jones County Board of Supervisors authorizing payment of $2,250.00 to be used for the Ellisville monument, and $2,250.00 to be used for another monument in Laurel.
