    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a fur trader stands on a stepped platform. The figure wears buckskin clothing and a stocking cap. He has a moustache and a full beard. There is a powderhorn strapped to his back and a pistol tucked into the front of his belt. He leans on a rifle held vertically at his proper right side.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was originally erected in Voyageurs National Park, reportedly as a symbol of protest against the rules, regulations and land acquisition policies of the National Park Service. Acquired by the National Park Service, the sculpture was donated to the City of Rainier in 1982. There is information on file for this piece in the Voyageur National Park Archives.
