    Description: 
    A uniformed Civil War soldier stands with both hands clasping the barrel of a rifle, the butt of which rests in front of his proper right foot. He wears a knee-length coat, cape, and a cap. The sculpture is mounted atop a tapered shaft adorned with relief insignias on each side. The front relief depicts an eagle over two crossed flags. Two crossed swords appear on the right side, crossed cannons are shown on the left side, and an anchor with two piles of cannonballs is shown on the rear. The shaft is set upon a base with a stepped bottom.
