    Remarks:
The sculpture was modeled on the drawings made by Ernest H. Shephard for writer A. A. Milne. It was created for the Children's Patio at the new home of the Newton Free Library, also known as the Newton Public Library, and was dedicated with the new building. Children are encouraged to ride on, pat, and hug the sculpture, and the artist hopes that children will identify with it. The artist's thumb prints are visible in the work. A plaque installed in the brick patio reads: (Left column:) In gratitude to our/City of Newton/by/Arnold & Betty Canner/(Right column:) In Memory of our beloved son/ERIC (1985-1989)/by/Cheng Yah & Betty Wong/(Lower center:) Nancy Schon Sculpture/1991.
