    Remarks: 
    The monument was erected by the citizens of Middleboro to perpetuate the memory of her soldiers who died during the Civil War. The monument was initiated by the E. W. Pierce Post 8 of the Grand Army of the Republic and those who served. IAS files contain a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission Form C - Monuments questionnaire dated April 12, 1985.
