Description:
The bronze figure of a Civil War Soldier walking with his rifle resting on his proper right shoulder is installed atop a tall granite base. The soldier walks forward with his proper left leg. The bottom of his long belted coat blows open slightly as he walks. The monument is flanked by two tall granite markers honoring the men from Holbrook who died in the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War.

Remarks:
Half of the funds for the erection of the monument were given by the Holbrook family and the remainder were donated by local citizens. The commemorative markers flanking the monument were added in 1989. IAS files contain copies of Massachusetts Historical Commission forms for the Mary Wales Holbrook Park and a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission National Register of Historic Places Criteria Statement Form for Mary Wales Holbrook Park.
