The memorial consists of a large rocket and a marble marker adorned with two bronze inscription plaques. One of the bronze inscription plaques features a profile portrait of Robert H. Goddard.

The monument commemorates the launching of the first liquid propellant rocket by Dr. Robert H. Goddard in 1926. IAS image files contain photographs of only the marker. IAS files contain a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission Form C - Monuments questionnaire dated Oct. 1981.
