    Remarks:
Commissioned by Swan Island's Art Committee under the Maine Percent for Art Act for $7,000. The sculpture created a controversy when parents of children in Swan's Island School raised safety issues. Meanwhile, a local community group was raising money to the build a playground on the site. Unaware of each other's projects, the Playground Committee and artists first clashed, then eventually reached a compromise on the use of the space. Other citizens were concerned about the expense. IAS files include the artist's proposal, a Percent for Art record of the work and a related article from the Bar Harbor Times, Sept. 19, 1991.
