    Description: 
    A youthful, male Confederate soldier stands erect with his proper left arm bent and held at his waist. His holds the tip of the barrel of his rifle in his proper right arm; the butt of the rifle rests on the ground by his feet. The soldier is dressed in uniform -- pants, jacket, cap -- complete with realistic details of folds, buttons, and gear. A tree trunk supports the soldier's proper left leg. The sculpture is mounted upon a shaft with a relief of a large Confederate flag on the front. The bottom two tiers of the base are polished with rough-hewn edges. The monument is lit at night.
