A war memorial comprised of a black granite stele with central glass inset case featuring ceramic sculpture of two uniformed soldiers. Viewed from the front, the soldier on the right wears a helmet and has his proper right arm around the waist of an injured soldier on the left, possibly African American, helping him to walk. The injured soldier supports himself with his rifle, placing his proper left arm around the neck of the other soldier. The sculpture is set on an oval base. On the rear of the stele is an image of an American flag. The entire memorial is set on a rectangular base, with polished top and rough-textured sides. A bricked walkway leads up the memorial. Included in the walkway are two granite benches and a flagpole. The memorial is lit by spotlights.

The memorial commemorates soldiers from Morehouse County who died in World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War. It was erected by the Morehouse Memorial Committee, with Venoy Kinnaird as chairman, and funded through donations. Morton sculpted the two soldiers; Keystone Memorials provided the granite stele and benches. The benches cost a total of $5,000. IAS files contain copy of dedication program, which includes full list of names on the memorial; and clippings from Bastrop Daily Enterprise dated Nov. 30, 1990, pg. 1; Dec. 3, 1990; and Feb. 16, 1996.
