    Description: 
    A figure of a Union Civil War soldier, dressed in a military uniform consisting of a long coat and cap, stands holding a rifle with both hands. The butt of the rifle rests near his feet. The figure stands atop a tall elaborately decorated and inscribed base.

    Remarks: 
    The Union Memorial was reportedly the only Union monument south of the Mason-Dixon line erected by public subscription, with the exception of those in cemeteries, and was dedicated to the 107 Lewis County soldiers who gave their lives during the Civil War.
