    Figure of a World War I infantryman advancing through the stumps and barbed wire of No Man's Land. He holds a rifle in his proper left hand and a grenade in his upraised proper right hand.

    Remarks: 
    Statue replaces an earlier Doughboy statue installed in 1935, and shattered in a truck accident in 1982 (IAS record 47260045). The replica copy was made in 1983 by Eleftherios Karkadoulias. Its $12,400 cost was funded by Kentucky Utilities and General Telephone Company. IAS files contain related newsclipping from Casey County News (Liberty, KY), Nov. 16, 1983.
