Remarks:
Commemorates Kentucky soldiers who were wounded or who died in the Civil War. On June 1, 1893, ex-Confederates of the county organized a committee to erect the monument, raising the cost through subscription. The contract was let to William Adams & Son, of Lexington, Kentucky, and the statue was made in Italy. Names on the base number three hundred. IAS files contain a related section from "History of Anderson County," pg. 160, which discusses the fundraising effort and the dedication. IAS files also contain a article from the Herald-Leader (Lexington, KY), March 15, 1994.
