    Description: 
    Relief inset in a shaft depicts a uniformed World War I soldier walking towards the west. He holds his rifle horizontally, as though poised to use it. An eagle is perched overhead. Square markers on each side of the monument honor Gold Stars and Gold Star and Red Cross nurses. A low boulder in front bears a plaque honoring Spanish American War volunteers.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by the Women's Relief Corps and the citizens of Eagle Grove. The Spanish American War plaque was placed by the American Legion Post 304 in June 1971. The plaque reads: THIS MEMORIAL/PLACED HERE BY/AMERICAN LEGION POST 304/THE AUXILIARY/AND COMMUNITY IN MEMORY/OF THE MEN WHO/VOLUNTEERED THEIR/SERVICE ON JUNE 22, 1898/DURING THE/SPANISH AMERICAN WAR.
