SPELLMAN (east side:) ROLL OF THE/FIELD AND STAFF/75TH IND. VOLS./LT. COL./W. O'BRIEN/MAJOR/G. J. McCOLE/Q.M./W.A. WAINWRIGHT (Lower octagonal base, and all four sides of two-tiered marble base: hundreds of names representing every soldier from Hamilton County) unsigned Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    A tall, octagonal shaft, draped with a flag and topped with a wreath and an eagle perched on three cannonballs. Around the lower section of the shaft there are reliefs of four smaller eagles, each holding an unfurled scroll and a sword. The shaft is set on an octagonal base and a two-tiered, square marble base, mounted upon a square, lower limestone base. The monument is surrounded by a wrought iron fence.
