    Description: 
    Standing figure of a Civil War infantryman set on top of a large pedestal. He is holding a furled flag in his proper left hand and a sword, at ease in his proper right hand. The tip of the sword is just above his proper right shoe. There is a tree stump in the proper right rear. The mustached figure is dressed in a uniform consisting of a long coat belted at the waist and a cap.

IAS files contain transcriptions of articles from the Butler Weekly Record (Butler, IN), July 31, 1908 and Butler Weekly Record (Butler, IN), Aug. 1908 giving details of the dedication ceremony. The monument cost $1,600.
