    Description: 
    Standing figure of St. Francis of Assisi set on a base on a wall. He stands with his arms upraised at his sides. He wears a long robe, gathered at the waist. A bird is perched on his proper left shoulder with its wings out.

    Remarks: 
    IAS files contain copies of The Teutopolis Press (Teutopolis, IL), April 30, 1959 discussing the dedication of the piece; and The Teutopolis Press (Teutopolis, IL), May 7, 1959. IAS files also undated letter to Parishners discusses progress on the work. Imported from Italy, the statue is incorporated into the Wayside Shrine of the Sacred Heart, one of two shrines on the church grounds. Three mosaics adorn the front of the altar of the shrine and depict the emblems of the Fourth Degree K. of C's; the Third Degree K. of C's; and the Third Order of St. Francis. The shrine was modelled by Chuck Stevens.
