Description:
Figure of a Civil War soldier standing at parade rest atop a tall shaft on a five-tiered base. He wears a uniform consisting of a long coat, a cape buttoned at the top and a cap. The mustached figure holds the barrel of a rifle with both hands, proper right hand on top of proper left hand. The butt of the gun rests in front of his proper right foot. The figure stands in front of a tree stump which comes up to the hem of his coat. Sculpture faces north. On the front of the shaft is a relief of a flagstaff, with eagle, array of flags, rifles, cannon balls, sword, drum and bugle.
